June 3-4, 2007 . . . Baltimore

On our way to Baltimore we received our first rain, our first slightly unfavorable weather; however, our spirits were brightened when we passed a cute small sail boat amusingly named "Woof-Woof". Just think how that sounds in radio transmissions.

We arrived in Baltimore and went to the National Aquarium. We got so wet walking there we felt friendly with the large and small fish we observed. Dinner in "Little Italy" and an update later on this stop.

On the 4th we went to Baltimore's Harborside . . . where Norfolk obtained the idea for Waterside. Nice shops and the Constellation on the waterfront along with a submarine, and a Coast Guard vessel, the Tandy. Lunch then to the Whole Foods Store for limited shopping. Baltimore Harbor had a terrible stench . . . dead fish floating everywhere.

We departed with the tug FORT PIKE pushing two barges toward Pooles Island . . . after an hour we were able to pass . . . making some 7.9 knots on our way to the Sassafras River.
