SONATA commenced the Great American LOOP for the third time May 21, 2015, and, crossed her wake, completed the third adventure May 18, 2016. This Blog is that story. SONATA's Second Loop was from May 19, 2011, to May 7, 2012. Captains Charlie and Bonnie Burke aboard their Grand Banks 42 started their FIRST Loop May 25, 2007, and, after 3 countries, 18 states, and some 8,000 miles the trip was completed by returning to homeport, Ocean Marine in Portsmouth, VA, May 24, 2008.

June 5-9, 2011 . . . Gananoque & Brockville, Ontario, Canada
We departed Clayton in the early afternoon, 1400, and entered CANADA at about 1450. We proceeded on to Gananoque flying our quarantine flag until we checked in with customs and immigration. As usual the Canadian officials were most gracious and we were admitted with pass report number 20111560396. Canada apparently has SONATA in its computer for when Charlie said who he was, that he was checking SONATA in, the official inquired as to whether anyone was aboard other than Bonnie . . .
Out of Gananoque on the way to Brockville the water was quiet and calm; a beautiful day to be on the water. We went toward the Canadian/American channel so we could go past the homes.
Houses we pass along the 1000 Island channel which include Hart Island, and the Boldt Castle.
Charlie's favorite is the electric power plant (DC current) for Boldt Castle.
The very calm waters of the Small Craft Channel around Rockville on the way to Brockville; N44-22.9, W075-54.9.
Along this route we made really good time. The current gave us a push above our normal cruising speed of 8.5 knots to almost 10.5 knots.
As we arrive at Brockville, 1235, the tall ship CANGARDA, was departing for a day-cruise. We entered the harbor, made our berth alongside the wall and prepared for the bank, lunch, and our departure to Portland.
