SONATA commenced the Great American LOOP for the third time May 21, 2015, and, crossed her wake, completed the third adventure May 18, 2016. This Blog is that story. SONATA's Second Loop was from May 19, 2011, to May 7, 2012. Captains Charlie and Bonnie Burke aboard their Grand Banks 42 started their FIRST Loop May 25, 2007, and, after 3 countries, 18 states, and some 8,000 miles the trip was completed by returning to homeport, Ocean Marine in Portsmouth, VA, May 24, 2008.

April 17 - 21, 2012 . . . New Smyrna to Hilton Harbor
Sunrise at New Smyrna and SONATA departs for Hilton Head with Ted and Judy aboard.
SONATA passed under the George Masson bridge.
On the way North we pass Ted and Judy's condo group.
As we depart New Smyrna with DISCOVERY passing overhead on its way to Washington, DC.
Our last view, the Ponce de Leon Light across the inlet from Ted and Judy's condo.
On the way to St. Augustine we passed a sail boat . . . with a problem. Stay in the channel.
Two eagles observed SONATA passing.
Ted at the helm.
We arrived at St. Augustine's City Dock.
Bonnie's District Manager, Curt (when Bonnie retired from Patterson), and his wife Angela, came to greet us and then joined us for dinner in St. Augustine.
In the AM we departed St. Augustine and just cleared the bridge by inches.
AMERICAN GLORY, a passenger vessel on the waterway, southbound, passed SONATA just north of Jacksonville.
SONATA docked overnight at Fernandino Beach; a MTOA gathering was in progress at the marina resulting in a "full house."
On the way to St. Simon's Island we heard OOKPIK on the radio; Bruce and Karen tied up behind us at the marina.
We borrowed the marina's courtesy car for shopping and ice cream . . . along with a view of the St. Simon Lighthouse.
On the dock forward of SONATA by several boats was a WESTSAIL 32; a sail boat that was Charlie's first love . . . his love now is SONATA.
We stopped at Isle of Hope Marina for one night.
